Licensing by the Federal Office of Economics and Export Control (BAFA)

ISN has been going through the BAFA certification process and therefore we are proud to announce the successful completion of the certification. All private security companies who wish to perform security functions to counter piracy on board ocean-going vessels sailing under German flag – independently of the place where their head office is established - will need a licence issued by the Federal Office of Economics and Export Control (BAFA). The license is grante d in consultation with the Federal Police (BPol) which mainly reviews the procedures and maritime standards. Similarly the German security companies also have to apply for licence if they wish to offer security services on vessels sailing under other flags in international waters. As certified company ISN meets the strict requirements of the BAFA and is therefore subject to governmental supervision.

Getting Tough - The Race 2013

At 10 o’clock on December 7th, Germany’s toughest hurdle race started in Rudolstadt/Thuringia. Amongst the more than 1300 officially registered starters, there also was our ISN employee Alex Schmidt. 22 Km at an altitude of 900m had to be overcome, with an outside temperature around zero. At the end, only 902 participants reached the finish. Our employee reached it 409th, after 03:47 h:m. The best time of the day was 02:09 h:m, which leaves a lot of potential for 2014, says Alex. Coming January 26th, Alex will represent ISN’s colours in Britain, at the original “Tough Guy”. Please find more information about the course here: und
